Based in Gilbert, Arizona, Louis Scichilone is a former Police Commander and Chief of Police with more than 26 years of law enforcement experience, 17 of which have been in supervisory positions. After serving active duty as a Cavalry Scout with the United States Army and completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies at Arizona State University (ASU), he joined the ASU Police Department as an Officer and was assigned to the Operations Division. Through four years in this position, Louis Scichilone primarily responded to calls for service, enforced laws, and worked to gain experience that would establish the foundation for his continued career.
Louis Scichilone became certified in Radar Speed Detection, certified as a Bicycle Patrol Officer though the International Police Mountain Bike Association, became a member of the Arizona Narcotics Officers Association and certified as a Cocaine, Cocaine Base, and Methamphetamine Field Tester, and attended Advanced DUI Detection School where he became HGN (Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus) certified. He was later selected as one of three members to join a specialized Anti-Burglary / Anti-Theft Task Force.
Louis Scichilone was promoted to Corporal in 2004 and assigned to the Patrol Division. He mentored less experienced officers, assisted in managing the midnight squad, served as the department's Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) Administrator, and continued to serve as a Grant Coordinator and Background Investigator. He later earned Detective status and was assigned to the Investigations Bureau.
Louis Scichilone held several other positions with progressive leadership responsibilities within the ASU Police Department, having been promoted to Sergeant in 2006 and Commander in 2012. Among other accomplishments, he created the department's first-ever Police Officer's Resource Handbook, implemented the agency's inaugural Body Worn Camera Program, implemented the department's first-ever dual-purpose EOD-Patrol canine program, completed an overhaul of the department's Performance Evaluation System, and earned Supervisor of the Year. He also served as the East Valley DUI Task Force Coordinator for his agency and was an active member of the university's Public Safety Advisory Council and Student Assistance Coordination Committee.
Louis Scichilone honorably retired from the ASU Police Department in September 2023 to assume the role of Chief of Police for the Town of Miami. He is currently attending Northern Arizona University in pursuit of a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership.
